It is always a good idea to be prepared, even for situations that may not happen every day. For example, you should know how to get a Mazda key out of the fob if it gets stuck in there. Here, Mazda of Salem goes over some tips and tricks if you find yourself in this inconvenient situation.
Opening Your Key Fob
If you can’t get the key out of your fob, there are probably two possible culprits. The main one is a dead battery. The other issue could be due to corrosion.
In either case, you will want to open up the key fob. To do this, take a flathead screwdriver and insert it into a crack around the seam, but not near the buttons or back, then gently pry it open. Once it comes off, you should be able to take the key out.
Replacing a Battery
If a dead battery is to blame, now you can replace it. Mazda key fobs require a watch battery, which is small and circular. Take the old one out and put in a new one, then snap the fob pack together.
Cleaning a Fob
If you notice corrosion on the circuit board, this will need to be cleaned. You can do this with rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab. Put a few drops of alcohol on the swab and clean the circuit board and frame.
